Most LED panel lights are effectively disposable. As drivers, LEDs or optical components deteriorate, the complete luminaire is replaced.

Sentinel was designed around a different expectation: that a well-engineered luminaire should remain in service for decades.

Conservatively operated LED arrays, matched long-life drivers, controlled thermal performance and replaceable components support an expected service life exceeding 20 years, with the ability to maintain and upgrade rather than discard the luminaire.

For organisations looking beyond lowest initial cost, Sentinel provides a sustainable alternative to repeated replacement, reducing long-term financial and environmental costs, waste and operational disruption.

Standard or Custom Sizes

Sentinel is available in all standard nominal panel sizes from 300 mm to 1200 mm, with variable output from 20–200 W to suit the application.

Custom frames can be manufactured to suit architectural requirements, with virtually any comparable size or length available up to 3.6 m*.

Multiple Size Options

Passive Thermal Management

Sentinel’s aluminium back panel forms a large passive heat sink, using natural convection to distribute and dissipate heat evenly across the LED array, supporting stable performance and long service life.

Integrated Structural Mounting

The anodised aluminium frame protects the luminaire’s long-term appearance and incorporates a continuous recessed structural channel, providing flexible fixing positions around the perimeter for direct installation, suspension, frame mounts or seismic restraint.

The Problem with Commodity Panels

Many commercial LED panels appear to offer an economic solution for general applications. However the warranty rarely covers aesthetic appearance.

Dark bands, or uneven illumination often occurs within the first few years leading the interior to look aged long before the expected service life of the product leaving property managers in an awkward position. Accept the deteriorating appearance or replace the product long before the expected date.

How Edge Lit Panels Fail

Edge-lit panels rely on guide plates to distribute light from LEDs positioned around the perimeter. As the LEDs and optical materials age they struggle to illuminate the panel evenly, resulting in dark bands across the diffuser.

How Back-Lit Panels Fail

Back-lit panels were developed to address the limitations of edge-lit designs, but commodity-market cost pressures have introduced different issues.

Fewer, widely spaced LEDs rely on primary optics to distribute the light. Individual LED or series-circuit failures can therefore create conspicuous dark areas or blotches across the panel.

How Sentinel Prevents Panel Fade

More than 2,300 Isollux XE dual-die LEDs per square metre create a closely spaced light source, distributed across interleaved circuits with overlapping output.

If an individual LED or circuit section eventually fails, adjacent LEDs continue to illuminate the same area, minimising any visible effect.

Conservative LED operation and controlled thermal performance further support uniform appearance throughout Sentinel's extended service life.

The large, high-density arrays create an exceptionally uniform light source with excellent colour consistency, available in 4000 K, 5000 K and 6000 K with SDCM ≤3 as standard.

Fully Serviceable Construction

Unlike conventional single-use panels, Sentinel is designed to be disassembled, serviced and rebuilt throughout its life.

  • Replaceable lens, LED arrays and driver.
  • Sprung corners provide simple access without damaging the luminaire.
  • Rigid aluminium construction protects and supports all major components.
  • Designed for straightforward disassembly, repair and refurbishment.

Even at the end of its original service life, the Sentinel chassis remains an asset that can be refitted with new LED arrays, lenses and control gear — reducing replacement cost and waste in a market dominated by disposable panel lights.

Multiple Driver & Control Options

Sentinel can be specified with simple flicker-free fixed-output drivers through to DALI D4i and IoT-ready control solutions with remote health monitoring.

Its large, high-density LED arrays are ideally suited to DALI DT8 tunable-white and human-centric applications, while centralised UPS systems provide a cost-effective option for integrated emergency lighting.
