“Service-life is Defined by the Weakest Component”
The service life of an LED luminaire depends on every major component operating together within its intended electrical, thermal and environmental limits. Exceptional LED performance alone is not enough. Long service life is achieved by balancing every major component as a complete lighting system, a principle that underpins every Isollux luminaire.
Balanced System Design
Long service life is achieved by balancing the performance of every major component rather than maximising any one component in isolation.
Delivering Long-Term value
Long-term reliability is achieved by balancing the performance of every major component rather than maximising any one element in isolation.
By combining conservatively operated LEDs, carefully matched drivers, effective thermal management and practical serviceability, Isollux delivers lighting systems engineered for predictable maintenance, dependable operation and long-term value throughout their operational life.
Proven Reliability Since 2007
Over nearly two decades of continuous production, our brands have evolved from Ecofluro and BLS to Isollux, but the design team, manufacturing relationships and engineering philosophy behind our products have remained the same.
Our Customer Experience: 15+ years service life
Almost two decades after our first LED products entered service, we are only now receiving maintenance and replacement enquiries for some of those earliest installations. While not every product or application will achieve the same service life, many have now operated reliably for 15 years or more.
This accumulated field experience continues to shape how we design and warrant Isollux products today.
It Starts at the LED
High-density dual-die LED arrays, operated at a fraction of their rated capability, provide the foundation for Isollux long-term performance, high efficacy and extended service life.
High-Density Arrays and Low Drive Currents.
Isollux uses high-density dual-die LED arrays, sharing the required output across more LEDs so each operates at a fraction of its rated capability, reducing electrical and thermal stress.
For example, the independent LM-80 programme supporting our primary XE chipset was conducted at 150 mA, while typical Isollux drive currents remain below 25 mA. This provides significant operating headroom beyond the conditions used for the published TM-21 projections, which do not account for the additional benefit of operating at substantially lower currents.
The trade-off is modest: while more LEDs are required to produce the same output, the benefit is high efficacy, lower thermal stress, greater stability at higher ambient temperatures and the opportunity to extend service life towards the practical limit of the LED, with minimal lumen depreciation with our XE 2835 chipsets maintaining L80 (B0) >102,000 hrs under TM-21 (2021).

Matching Driver Life
With LED service life engineered beyond 100,000 hours, the driver is selected and de-rated to deliver a comparable service life across the luminaire's standard ambient operating range.
Optimising the Luminaire
LEDs can readily outlast the electronic drivers that power them. A long lumen-maintenance projection therefore has limited value if the driver becomes the component that determines when the luminaire requires service or replacement.
Isollux matches driver specification, loading and expected operating temperature to the projected life of the LED system. Particular attention is given to driver case temperature at the luminaire's maximum rated ambient, with drivers typically operated below their maximum rated load to provide additional thermal and electrical headroom.
The objective is a balanced system in which the LED and driver achieve a comparable service life, rather than allowing either component to unnecessarily limit the life of the luminaire.
Engineering for Higher Ambient Temperatures
Where operating conditions extend beyond the standard range, output can be de-rated, higher-temperature drivers specified or drivers mounted remotely to maintain the required service life in more demanding environments.

Our Warranties
A manufacturer's warranty does not define service life, but it does reflect the level of confidence they are prepared to place behind the complete lighting system
Confidence in the Complete Luminaire
Isollux warranties are founded on nearly two decades of continuous product development and real-world operating experience. Successive generations of our products have evolved through incremental engineering improvements, allowing component selection, operating conditions and expected service life to be informed by both independent testing and long-term field performance.
Combined with the conservative LED operation and matched driver performance described above, this enables Isollux to offer warranties of up to ten years across much of the product range — reflecting our confidence in the expected in-service performance of the complete luminaire, not simply the LED.
Evaluating Performance Claims
Long-term LED lumen maintenance does not necessarily represent the practical service life of a luminaire. Ultimately, service life is determined by the component that reaches the end of its useful life first.
Where exceptional LED lumen-maintenance claims are accompanied by relatively short product warranties, it is reasonable to consider which other components may determine the expected service life of the luminaire.
Warranties for Extreme Environments
Our standard products are designed for clearly defined operating conditions. Where applications extend beyond those conditions, we work with customers to clearly define any practical engineering limitations.
Setting Expectations for Bespoke Specification
Our standard warranties are based on the published operating conditions for each product, with limits that vary according to power, ambient temperature and the intended operating environment. Where projects fall outside those standard parameters, our engineering team works with customers to understand the application and determine whether the specification can be refined.
Measures such as output de-rating, alternative driver specification, remote-mounted drivers or other application-specific engineering can often restore the desired service life and full warranty period, even in some of the industry's most demanding operating environments. Where this is not achievable, we provide clear guidance on the expected service life, warranty and any practical design constraints before specification, ensuring informed engineering decisions from the outset.
